IMPORTANT: All Medical Assistance (MA) Recipients Must Submit a Renewal to Keep Benefits - See "MA Renewals" Below ↓
Medicaid is a government (“public”) benefits program that provides health care coverage to low-income individuals across the country. In Minnesota, Medicaid is called “Medical Assistance” or “MA.”
Medical Assistance (nationally known as “Medicaid”) pays the costs of LTSS (“Long-Term care Supports and Services”) for eligible individuals. For folks who are eligible for these benefits, MA is one possible answer to the “what-if” question:
However, federal and state MA eligibility rules are strict, complicated, and easily misunderstood. (See also: Important Announcement about Renewing MA Benefits.)
Our firm understands the complexity of the MA program and how our clients can qualify for benefits – as well as when MA may not be a good option to pay for care.
We also represent clients who have received an MA eligibility denial. If you receive a denial from Minnesota’s Department of Human Services (DHS) stating that you do not qualify for MA, our attorneys may be able to represent you in an appeal (a request to reverse the denial) to DHS’s Appeals Division.
